This Lesson we’ll focus on how to begin tapping on bass. This is a technique that is used by a lot of famous solo bass players such as Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, Billy Sheehan, Stu Hamm. If you have’nt yet checked these players out please do so to get more of an idea of how this technique can be used.

This Lesson is all about the most common type of tapping, The open hammer tap. To start off you want to pluck the string then hammer on the first two notes. Tap the top note and pull it off to the notes running down. You should have a consecutive string of pull offs on the way down to the open string. You then repeat the process without plucking the G string and it all becomes hammer on, pull offs and taps.
